Laser Assisted Periodontal Treatment
In addition to traditional procedures to help treat periodontal disease, we use the help of a diode laser. Lasers promote healing of your gums via bio-stimulation, as they can help increase circulation and collagen formation at the bottom of the periodontal pockets and help with the reattachment. First, a gentle pulsed light will be passed around every tooth to decontaminate the gums. This helps eliminate periodontal disease bacteria. Secondly, using a stronger continuous wave, the laser is used to selectively remove diseased or infected tissues lining the gums around your teeth. At the same time the laser will kill more of the bacteria that cause your gum disease.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide is a safe and efficient sedative agent to help you relax. Nitrous oxide, also known as "laughing gas," is one alternative your dentist may provide to help you feel more at ease during certain procedures. It's not meant to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and reply to the dentist's requests or directions. Your dentist will instruct you to breathe normally through your nose, and you should begin to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide within a few minutes. Once the procedure is over, the effects of the nitrous are gone within a few minutes and you will be able to drive yourself home.
